What We Believe

All scripture is inspired by God

The New Covenant as recorded in the New Testament is what we accept as our doctrine.

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed (inspired) and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.

2 Peter 1:20-21-Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

Our God is one, but manifested in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit being co-equal

God the Father is greater than all and the source of all. The Holy Spirit proceeded from both the Father and the Son and is eternal.

There is only one true God

Ephesians 4:5-6- one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

1 Timothy 1:17 - Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God

Luke 3:22 - and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”

Luke 9:35 -A voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.”

2 Peter 1:16-17 - We did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eye-witnesses of his majesty. For he received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

Jesus Christ is God

John 1:1-3 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him (Jesus) all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

John 14:9 - Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, `Show us the Father’?

The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ

Acts 3:13-15 - The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go. You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this.

Acts 10:39-40 - We are witnesses of everything he did in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a tree, but God raised him from the dead on the third day and caused him to be seen.

The soon return of Christ.

Acts 1:9-11 - After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 - For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord for ever.

The Apostle’s Doctrine

Acts 2:42 - And they continued steadfastly in the apostle’s doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Acts 2:38 - Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Salvation (Repentance)

Man is a created being made in the image and likeness of God. Because of Adam’s fall, sin came into the world. Therefore all have sinned and come short of God’s glory and there is none righteous. Jesus came into the earth to redeem man and deliver him from the power of the enemy, to destroy the works of the devil and restore man back to his proper place in God. Salvation is God’s gift and has nothing to do with works or the law. It comes by Faith in Jesus producing works that are acceptable by God.

Romans 10:9-10 - That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Baptism in water by immersion

Baptism is a commandment of our Lord and is for believers. The ordinance is a symbol of the Christian’s identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.

Matthew 3:13-15 - Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented.

Romans 6:4 - We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

The gift of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is a gift from God as promised from our Lord Jesus Christ to all believers and is received subsequent to the new birth. The evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives expression accompanies this experience.

John 14:16-17 - And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever —the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

Acts 1:5,8 - For John baptized with [Or in] water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Acts 2:4 - All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues [Or languages; also in verse 11] as the Spirit enabled them.

Divine healing

This is for the human body and is wrought by the power of God through the prayer of faith or the laying on of hands. It is provided for in the atonement of Christ and a privilege of every member in the church today.

Isaiah 53:4-5 - Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.

Matthew 8:17 - This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases.”

1Peter 2:24 - He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

Sanctification

The Bible teaches that without holiness no one can see the Lord. It is a definite progressive work of grace that starts at the time of being born again and continues until the time a person is made complete in Christ.

Hebrews 12:14 - Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no-one will see the Lord.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 - May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Hell and eternal damnation

Anyone who dies in their sins without Jesus Christ is lost in the Lake of Fire. They will no longer have an opportunity to hear the gospel or repent. The Lake of Fire is real.

Hebrews 9:27 - Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,

Revelations 19:20 - But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshipped his image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulphur.
